We've had a couple of day visits to the park recently. Sightings have been a bit on the quieter side, but that's probably because the park received some really good rain just over a week ago - it's desperately needed in our area at the moment!

The loops in the south of the park have still been excellent for a variety of game. One highlight was a very distant sighting of 2 bushpigs on vukani loop O/\ O/\

Image

Mbotyi loop provided some great close buffalo and elephant encounters O:V

Image

The zebra were also pretty close, allowing for a few arty shots [O]

Image

Image

Ngulube has seen plenty of lion action recently, but not when we were there
However we found a jackal buzzard very close to the road and some brimstone canaries giving a splash of colour ^Q^

Image

Image

One good thing about the rain is that it brings the bugs out. This flightless dung beetle was having a bit of a tough day 0:

Image

Fortunately he righted himself eventually and continued with business as usual O**

The hyena pups are being seen regularly at Rooidam X#X

But some people appeared to be having difficulty finding them 0*\ =O: =O:

Image

Our lion sightings have been a bit scarce, but with a bit of work we managed to find Gibson fast asleep in an area of the park not easily accessible to the general public 0'

Image

Other general game included plenty of kudu, a tiny elephant at Hapoor, as well as some majestic eland bulls in the afternoon sun O:V

One great thing about the wetter weather is the sunsets. Here was the view at the end of the day last week with the skies lit up over Harveys tree O:V
