We were over the moon. Botshelo had welcomed us into the park on our first day and the came to say goodbye on our last day. How awesome was that.
After that sighting, the gemsbok tried to compete by posing on the calcrete banks for us, but sorry guys.
You are stunning but you know what????

After that we headed back to camp to enjoy our last sunset of the trip

16 June, and the animals take a public holiday as we leave the park

Our plan for our last morning in the park was to sneak in a morning drive till about 9am, go back to Rooiputs and to take down the camp, and then to head off out the park.

We were overnighting in Keimos on the way back to Cape Town, so we only had about a three and a half hour drive, once out the park.

We left camp just before 8 am and set off north, to Kij Kij and back
Well, all the animals were definitely sleeping in on this Youth Day public holiday

We saw zip. :O^

Well you can’t really say we saw nothing.

We did have this special sighting of a secretary bird on it’s nest. Yes it was slowly waking up, and after a bit flew off never to be seen again.

This juvenile bateleur eagle looked a bit irritated at having being woken up

And this black backed jackal couple were more interested in themselves than anything else.

We got back to camp at about 10am, and were at the Twee Rivieren gate, checked out and ready to return to the real world just before one o clock

Our last sighting was of this police vehicle being flat bedded out of the park, proving once again that the Kgalagadi is not an easy place to be in

  ^0^

So till our next trip in December/ January, that’s it for now

(78 Sleeps) O/\ O/\

Thanks ever so much to everyone for all your amazing comments and support whilst I have been writing this travel tale
Your input does tend to stroke ones ego a bit :o0ps: :o0ps:

And then also to my SO, Debs your pictures are awesome,

O/\ O/\

but then you do have a really good game driver to place you in the best positions for getting the best photos

=O: O**

That raptor was not a lanner falcon, but some sort of kestrel. ;-)
