Following the night drive we had a late start the next day

Our first sighting was desperately trying to blend in

Image

The race was on between these two the one in front wanted water the one behind wanted ....
Image

Image

We had decide to drive the S100 loop today and passed by the tail tree ....
Image

the tail had not grown much O**

These birdies did not fly away from us lol
Image

and this bastard did not manage to stay hidden
Image

Some ellies were filling up at the Nsemani dam
Image

The colorful bee eater posed for us on the S100
Image

and then we came across the who dunnit scene a stripped black and white carcass lay still in the grass by the water hole ....
Image

A few other cars were at the scene scouring around in the grass ....

There was a large group of Vultures about 50 meters to the right of the carcas and still others were coming in and joining the group but they were not approaching the carcas .The grass was fairly long and the cars that were there before us seemed all to be spread out searching for the culprit .

Image

and then the culprit suddenly sat up in the grass
Image

It had obviously been quite a battle to bring the Zebra down and it was panting quite heavily . It turned an watched the vultures for a bit then lay down again .
Image

We waited a while but there was not much activity and the numbers of cars was rapidly increasing .We decided to carry on . A white stork was foraging .Image

This brown eagle was waiting for something to move ....
Image

The Giraffe was still resting his legs .
Image

We turned back at the end of the S100 and passed the crime scene .The number of cars had increased so we did not stay long .There was a group of vultures on the other side of the road now
Image

and in the far distance some Jackals were mustering the courage to try get closer
Image

We left the scene and found some smaller hunters on the march
Image

Back at the tree the tail had moved again and we still had not found the owner 0*\
Image

We carried on towards camp

Wow, that is a big prey item for a leopard, Rog!

Great all-round scenes, and the mystery of the tail continues... :-? O-/

And the smaller things! :-0
