Black is the ghastly conference centre.

Yellow is/was the temporary staff accommodation regarding all sorts who work in Skuks!...a big old building...have had a fling there!

Red is the police station.

The last two are outside the Restcamp, with access from the tar road to Skukuza management town, not the staff village, which is east of the restcamp.

There will never ever be a simple smiley to foot this bill,..

The lodge will be located within the existing Skukuza Rest Camp next to the conference centre with the intention of extending itself to the conference delegates. “It will cater for the conference market but will also be available for public usage”.

Ja...at first it was to cater for conferences, now all avenues are open!

I reiterate..the conference centre will never ever cover its costs, and neither will the HOTEL...both have been paid for, and in the case of the conference facility still being paid for, using SANParks (Tourist) money, and will be white elephants.

They are designed to be party accommodation for political or SP PR gatherings/lekgotlas/imbizos etc.

One or two have happened there already...mahala for guests/media.

The area proposed for the Lodge is a disturbed area

This is a shocking statement to make regarding the long-term...no excuse whatsoever, and setting a precedent. Obviously Skukuza is already a "disturbed area"...

But if this is the rationale, and is included as a justification for future developments, which are in the pipeline, don't worry, Heaven help us!


It is not about building a hotel inasmuch it is about commercialisation and adding hundreds more tourists to the South of Kruger! It is saturated!
