Tried it for the first time as well. But way too late. Oh well, got another week to book
at the start of December, so I know which route to go then.

I would like to know how a family of 9 can occupy accommodation made for a family of 3 ? I am also looking for an e-mail address for somebody high up in the ranks at SANparks because I would like to lodge a formal complaint about the abuse of accommodation at Pretoriuskop camp

Hi TD, if you want to start right at the top try
davidm@sanparks.org
You could start lower down the ranks, but I reckon the result will be the same.

The mail adresses are readily available, td...but not normally answered by the top-level staff in question, understandably!

Tent dweller,
At KTP we were not allowed to book one wilderness unit for 2 adults and a 12 year old, so that seems like the rules differ from park. I've seen something like that at campsites, but not chalets before.
I remember a while back a family that booked for less people than the number that arrived had to pay in even although it was only toddlers that were not included. That was at Letaba and there was no way out for this family.

I realize that it’s school holidays, but have never seen this before.

A mate of mine was 1st in the queue at the KZN SANParks office on the 1st of November and at 7:30am when bookings opened Tamboti was already fully booked.
Any ideas as to why

I see that suddenly almost all of Tamboti is available again for the above period

This system isn't lekker and we are still a long way from the truth

Well, will have another bash at Tamboti again! Thanks!
Don't think the Bushveld Camps are tour operator bulk bookings?

I had confirmation from a senior person at major booking agency that SANParks offer no preferential treatment anymore as they would rather cut all booking agencies out to save on commission. They have software platforms which check all the time for cancellations which does assist after the fact, but other than that one stands a better chance phoning in or in the queue or........ “being connected”
They advised multiple client numbers pre registered and multiple phones. 1 phone to head office, 2 to remote satellite offices and whichever answers first use, if more than one answer then use multiple client numbers and join the trip after the fact
They can’t explain why key units are booked prior to the official opening of bookings and put it down to “being connected”

Ja BC..either way it won't change, IMO..
The companies won't release their bookings!
