7. The existing Waterkant Guest Houses to be included into the concession and refurbished as upmarket 12 bed guest
accommodation in line with the style of the sleeper carriages and the facility as a whole, also to include a lounge and fine
dining restaurant for overnight guests, and a wellness and pampering facility (see C in Fig. 1).
Well, the Waterkant guesthouses don't appear on any availability for 2019, so the project is going ahead it seems.

Found out the donor contract regarding the Waterkant Guesthouses expires end 2018. So SANParks have planned well.

E-mail:
Dear Kruger Shalati Stakeholders and Registered I&APs
I will be emailing you each a copy of the revised Draft Basic Assessment Report for the proposed Kruger Shalati development in and adjacent to the Skukuza Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park. There are 13 Annexes that I will send in 13 separate emails following the one with the DBAR and titled accordingly. Please let me know if you have any difficulties accessing these documents.
As required hard copies will be sent to the competent authorities via courier.
If you have any questions for clarification please let me know and if you have any comments that require further consideration, please ensure that these get to me before the end of August 2018, i.e. you have a further 30 day comment period following on from your review and comments on the first version of the DBAR. Thank you for your interest in this project. Your inputs add value to the process.
Kind regards
Kevan Zunkel

Thanks Kevan,
I see that the assessor being John Marshall has not carried out a site visit.
I find this very strange and unsatisfactory, I fail to understand how he can express an opinion on the impacts without even putting a foot on the site. It may be argued by him and his supporters that he did not find it necessary, others me included find it strange as the KNP is a conservation area not a public resort.
