The jackal is a local at Satara. O:V If you stay in Stanley guest house he pops up every evening.

Brilliant pics once again ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
Very much a local jackal - he curled up almost on top of a wildebeest one evening lol

And the "Stop pulling my leg" babboon is funny lol
The baobab was looking very healthy Lis - great to see it so green \O

April 3rd

We woke up nice and early again (mainly due to camping neighbours who for some reason thought getting up and being noisy about 2 hours before gate opening was sensible @#$ (0!) ). Outside we could hardly see anything... partly it was still quite dark, but it was also very foggy

This morning we planned to venture down the H7 to Orpen and back. I had been chatting to another camper about routes and he had seen more game in general to the west of Satara rather than the east. Plus I was secretly hoping we might stumble into the Orpen wild dog pack -O-

As we started along the H7 the sun started to burn its way through the fog O:V

But then it disappeared again for most of the drive along to Orpen which gave today's pics a bit of a misty glaze lol

The hippos in Nsemani weren't minding the weather at all, and some impala seemed quite happy to see us \O

The same could not be said for this bateleur which looked quite wet and tired

Image

Our previous day would have been a 'Big 5 Day' had we found buffalo but they weren't anywhere to be seen. So it was quite amusing to stumble across this massive herd grazing in the mist. On the opposite side of the road we managed to scare a kori bustard into view which was nice to see so close O:V

RP was chewing on some breakfast, whilst a bit of patient waiting allowed us a good view of some dwarf mongoose O\/ O\/

The dogs were nowhere to be seen, but quite a cool sight was Mr & Mrs Golden Orb Spider ^Q^ ^Q^
I wouldn't want to be Mr Spider O** O**

Image

Our only other sightings before reaching Orpen were general game. This zebra was looking quite regal in the grass whilst we hadn't seen too many warthogs in Kruger so we snapped a quick pic of a family of them lol

You should have greased the noisy neighbours @#$ My personal pet hate is those who don’t consider others. O/

A misty morning, but a nice mix of pics and general game O/\

Hey, camping comes with the territory...if you want to hear night sounds you must be prepared to listen to neighbours too! ^0^

I miss it a bit...must maybe pull into a luxury privatised tent! =O:

lovely shots, Peej...gorgeous baboon! O/\

love the buffalo in the mist!

Dwarf mongoose are difficult to photograph, but as you say, just sit still and they will come out again.

Story of male lives, that spider!
