I wouldn't say it was common...as I have never seen one before...:) :) :) :)
Actually many people may have seen one as larks are difficult to ID . They all look the same to me. But the deciding factor for my ID was the fact that it was displaying..flying up ..clapping wings ..then landing again. If the bird is not displaying it would most probably be overlooked. :)

It has the same name as the Cape Clapper Lark.
