Eventually we had to move on from Keetmans out of Nam... :-(

Some last breathtaking scenery! :-0

One has to unpack a bit to make brunch by the side of the road!

A flooded river for old times' sake! 0/*

Next stop was Kakamas, the birthplace of Dwarf! \O

We were warmly hosted by his relatives, and had a swim in the windpump reservoir, which is a very strange and pleasant experience indeed as you are 4 m up in the air in a pool! O:V

Yet another river...the only National Park I've ever been to besides Kruger! lol

The next day we parted company, with Dwarf staying behind, and trekked south to Calvinia. That straight dirt road makes the Namibian ones look like winding snakes! =O:

Somewhere in nowhere the unthinkable did indeed happen, and can you believe it we ran out of fuel again...STUPIT!!! 0*\ O/

This time we sputtered into the entrance of a farmhouse, and the Oom there gave us the petrol from his lawnmower, at a very hefty price indeed! :ty: :ty:

That was just enough to get to the next town, and a few thousand km on we found our final destination before the Cape...an isolated oasis called Die Mond!

It is some or other fountain in the middle of the Karoo, and quite breathtaking! O\/

I had brought a fishing rod along for the seaside, and unpacked it for the first time, catching scores of giant fish....you can see one hanging from the end there... \O

I shall never forget the pleasantness of this final camp of the trip, full of satisfaction and relaxation and time to reflect on a great adventure!

Here is the last pic of my last roll of film, a local dog that jumped in to get every fish one hooked! lol

Thanks for following this improvised story...sorry the pics/scans not so good, but I enjoyed memory lane here immensely during lockdown! X#X

Nam is a must!

THE END

Nice to see water after all the sand X#X

Dwarf was born in the middle of nowhere, though close to Upington and right on the Orange river O/\

Lots of fish to eat for all of you =O:

You did not take many pics at Augrabies. In fact, apart from the waterfall, there isn't much ;-)

You must have driven quite a lot of kms

I wonder if it is mandatory to have pics of wild animals in a TT :-? --00-- lol

The end of the big adventure :-( :-(

:ty: ^Q^ ^Q^ It is quite a job to scan all those photos \O

Good stuff RP... running out of fuel anywhere is never a nice experience. Somehow on our Namib trip we managed ok but I remember we did have a jerry can in the boot which got used from time to time --00--

It seems to turn into my story that once I've finally managed to read up on a travel tale it is sure to end 0- lol

Whatever... enjoyed catching up as you gave me an more insight into all of the places I would like to see if we ever go to Namibia.
I was actually amazed how green it was in places. What season did you do your road trip? And whose fancy car is it? Quite an apt vehicle for such a trip, well, at least as long as you keep it fuelled up that is ^0^

Rum and tonic... really? O-/
