As stated before, my shoulders did not want to cooperate when I tried to capture insects on the ground

- the camera was too heavy, I couldn't remain motionless long enough, and I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to use them to push myself back up when I was done.
So-o-o…I scooped up some of the ripened/over-ripened fruits (don't know their name - Mary?, Daniel?) under the trees at LS and put them at table height. I only attracted flies (not me, the fruits, though it COULD have been both I suppose

), but got at least 6 different species.

And the last unknowns from this KNP trip: Muscidae and I can not get to a proper ID

Klippies!
Another one of those strange mud nests, this time Gardenia hide. Quite big (20cm) and even slightly painted!

Need another angle or close-up to see if the turret is downward curved
It's a potter wasp nest and another wasp has made the turret and moved in

Only thing I know is the previous one of mine in the book was labelled " poss. Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis", yet that very apt

species doesn't show here. Lots of them have red rear ends

, so I have NO idea - there are simply too many to decipher.
As for the Muscidae, I have more pics, but without a Key, there's nothing we (you

) can do.

for your tireless efforts.

Yes, I think the pic is meant to be like this with the tunnel pointing down!
