The Brat is already at the end of the day and I'm still busy with the morning.
Just past Bowkerskop we came across a herd of buffs and I finally managed to get some pics of Yellow-billed Oxpeckers!
A big lizard at the Olifants high level bridge.
This ellie seemed to be having some difficulty with branches and spiderwebs!
We eventually arrived at Satara but we were too early to check in. We went to check out the new Mugg and Bean and bumped into Penga. We had a long chat and by the time we said goodbye it was time to fetch the key and go and unpack. After settling in I spotted this agama in the tree in front of our bungalow.
Then I found another one in the next tree.
We had decided to do the S90, S41 and S100 for our afternoon drive, but decided to quickly check out Nsemani first, and found our first lion.
Apart from rolling over a couple times, she wasn't doing much so we headed for the S90. It was very quiet and we only found some wildebeest and zebra. The S41 was a bit more lively with lots of rutting impalas, some Woolly-necked Storks, waterbuck, vultures and some cute Egyptian goslings.
As we turned onto the S100 we found a Lilac Breasted Roller playing with its food. I'll post the video as soon as I have uploaded it. Then it was on to find the mating lions we had been told about. This was our first serious traffic jam. We tried to find the lions on our own but couldn't see anything so we pulled up next to the last car in the queue and tried to ask where they were. This was one of those unfriendly types with their windows up and not keen on sharing. He opened the window about an inch and mumbled something about a tree and ditch. We left him to it and reversed again. My dad and I were not interested in staring at some bushes and decided we'd rather leave the crowd and try and find our own sighting. The problem now was to get through the cars! As usual, all the rules were ignored and there were cars pointing in all different directions all over the road, with no space for cars to get through. My dad waved his hands about and got quite rude until some people reversed to let us through! We saw a car parked on its own a bit further up with 3 woman inside. We stopped next to them and started chatting. They were really friendly and pointed out where the lions where. They probably had the best view, but everyone seemed to prefer sitting in the scrum! Anyway, we watched the lions for a bit but they obviously weren't keen on performing under such scrutiny, and soon it was time to head back to camp.
We had arranged to meet Aat and Elly for a drink at their bungalow where we had a great time chatting about big tuskers and lots of other interesting stuff but we still had to get our dinner on the go, so only stayed about an hour.
We had Oxtail for dinner which we just heated up on the hotplate, but my dad lit a small fire to cook some porkies for padkos the next day, and had a chat to the local AWC at the same time.

Impressive lizard!!!
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Nsemani Dam seems to always produce a lion at some stage of the day
Those S100 traffic jams , well at least you got to spot them
