this was a very quiet day but it produced two firsts

no.1 on the morning drive - Ludwig’s bustard near Bedinkt

and first no. 2 – a barking gecko which was right next to our stoep

the jackals were howling again but as they had fooled us the day before we only went to the hide when they did not stop and we were just in time to see a leopard leaving. 0*\ There was a picture on the webcams but not good enough to make an id.

right at the entrance of the loop was a small traffic jam as a lioness and her tiny cub were hiding behind a bush. They were only visible from one spot but the car that parked there moved for us. How nice was that. Nevertheless, this is all that we saw

at Marie there was only a juvenile PCG

on the way back mom was still hiding and the cub was not even visible any more

while we were busy packing, someone went through the camp announcing lions at the waterhole. We went there but missed them and on top of that another guest who we had met the evening before already (she saw the leopard at the waterhole) returned from her morning drive to the North and told us very happy that she saw a leopard again. It seems that we were not really lucky with our sightings at Nossob.

05.10.2014 continued

We checked out and drove South. No sightings at Marie se draai. At Kaspersdraai we saw a black-chested snake eagle

Half way to Cheleka we had another first sighting – the petrol truck was stuck in the middle of the road :shock:
