Wow, Ratel! The wasp thing is great! How big was it, about? You can put it up under "interesting behaviour" and Prof Braack may discuss?

They paralyse the spiders, so they are still alive and fresh when the wasp grubs hatch on them underground or in a nest and start eating! \O

Nice you call the Olifants a "mighty river"...one can see you come from a dry country like us!

But that bridge is awesome, and the Park's biggest river, bar the Limpopo, which doesn't really flow so regularly. Both are heavily overextracted upstream for various purposes, mostly agricultural. :-(

PJL wrote:Ratel some great sightings you had on your trip so far ^Q^ ^Q^

We saw a cheetah with four youngsters on the way up from Satara towards Olifants in April, so perhaps it was the same family you came across -O-

Plenty of leopard is good going in lion country X#X
For sure PJL, Kruger delivered some outstanding sightings. Plus it is simply a pleasure to be on safari and not know what might be around the next corner.

The two Leopard sightings were alongside rivers not surprisingly. \O Ironically the Lions were a bit harder to get onto around Satara...

Not sure about the size RP. It was on Lyca's side of the car so i didn't get a good look at the time.

The river running through Alice Springs has been totally dry all year! =O: Plus the width of the Olifants conveys its power during flood, which must be a formidable sight. Its a shame us greedy humans rob our rivers of the flow they need to stay healthy. Several notable examples of this here in Australia too.

And what is with your food fetish RP? --00--

Thanks also Lisbeth, FB, Mel and Nan for tuning in. I appreciate the nice comments about the Olifants River pics. I am mostly a landscape photographer here in Australia but it is more difficult to do when you can't get out of the car! As a result I was a bit lazy with scenery pics this trip. Plus It necessitates constant lens changes, which are annoying when you are driving. :O^
Apologies for making you squirm with the wasp/spider altercation. The natural world is brutal at times 0:
