I think the warthogs go for fresh roadside puddles as there will not be crocodiles and other predators, and probably far more muddy?

Interesting the oxpecker bothering the cut under the kudu's eye..

The grass is a different type on the one end of the S-25?

Indeed but luckily I saw pictures of Gesanftombi filled up nicely after our return

They were covered nearly everywhere with mud

Yes it was always a bit different there or that area suffered extreme under the drought 3 years ago

Especially the many youngsters were too cute



and also the interaction with mom made us stop constantly to take picture after picture.





Somehow it got now drier and drier and the ground looked now more like a wasteland and we now got more and more concerned that also the other areas around Crocodile Bridge will be that dry especially after checking out Gesanftombi dam which was completely dry not even any water left but therefore we now finally could admire at least two members of the Gesanftombi pride on the dam wall – In the beginning one of them was lying on one of the larger rocks below the dam wall



whereas the other one was lying on the wall





but the arrival of a huge elephant bull who wanted to dig for some water



chased the other lion away from the shady spot and same now joint the other one on the dam wall and straight flopped down. Meanwhile the dam wall must have been heated up extreme as the sun came more and more out.

and this must have been extreme uncomfortable for the lions lying nearly in the sun now. At least a couple of clouds still where hiding same a bit but it was now extreme unbearable also for us in the shade.



We stayed a bit with them but it were indeed a lot of traffic and so we drove slowly to camp as the check in time was meanwhile nearly reached but for sure we still had time in capturing a beautifully posing brown snake eagle.



Check in went fast and smooth and we were allocated once again with our favourite bungalow, number 10 and when we were still busy with our luggage and food we noticed a large group of banded mongoose who joined the group of vervet monkeys who was busy in feeding from the fallen marulas from the tree close to the fence





and soon Timon grabbed one camera and walked closer to the mongoose and vervets to take a couple of shots.



Neither the mongoose nor the vervets felt disturbed by his presence to the contrary



all of them allowed him to even come closer and he happily clicked away



whilst I was observing the spectacle from our bungalow still busy with packing away the food into the refrigerator.

I'm not a huge fan of warthogs… but I like your captures and it's actually quite nice to not have them run off when you watch and photograph them.

The big bull however is an amazing sight

The lions on the "stairs" look funny
