We've seen meerkats digging frantically for food on a number of previous trips, but hadn't seen them ever catch barking geckos before. This trip, one family was quite successful at unearthing them, and would then go feed the tasty morsel to one of the youngsters.

Stunning! Where exactly was that, ExFmem? Were they close or did you use a bazooka lens?

They were just barely south of Kij Kij, quite near the roadside and on both sides from time to time. The barking geckos were being caught on the left side, unfortunately in poor light (against the sun), but still relatively close sometimes. I used 300 - 400 mm, depending.

The photos are also cropped.

We never found them again at that location, and only far away at other locations during the trip. :-(

while we were watching them. 0-
