PRWIN, yes it's getting to be that the ice breaks out earlier and retreats further North each year. The Arctic could do with a prolonged cold spell this Winter to put the balance back a bit. The biggest problem is the speed of the melt. The wildlife does not get a chance to adapt to the new conditions.
Nan, we did not see the Aurora as it was daylight the whole time. Think the Aurora season starts later in the year.

Jill, the ship is ice strengthened, so no damage done, unlike the Titanic, this one is built for the conditions we were in. I never felt unsafe the whole trip.
