Thanks for the comments and compliments PRWIN, Nan, Lisbeth, Mel, Sprocky, Jillinflorida & Richprins. \O

PRWIN, yes it's getting to be that the ice breaks out earlier and retreats further North each year. The Arctic could do with a prolonged cold spell this Winter to put the balance back a bit. The biggest problem is the speed of the melt. The wildlife does not get a chance to adapt to the new conditions.

Nan, we did not see the Aurora as it was daylight the whole time. Think the Aurora season starts later in the year.

Lis, the angel's name will come up in the next post. I was in heaven watching them.

Mel, see my reply to Lis. Glad you like the words. \O

Sprocky, got to do something to keep you Greenies interested here. =O:

Jill, the ship is ice strengthened, so no damage done, unlike the Titanic, this one is built for the conditions we were in. I never felt unsafe the whole trip. \O

RP, I missed your previous reply, so apologise for leaving you out on my thanks, you get double helpings this time. \O Look in the mirror in the morning maybe? =O: =O: =O:

OK, I've posted three today, guess you lot want a fourth as well? Hope I don't clog the system up. O**

Ivory Gulls must rate as one of the most beautiful birds on this planet. Those of you who have read my Antarctic report will know how much I love the Snow Petrels I saw in the South, so its with some difficulty that I say that the Ivory Gull won outright in the beauty stakes between the two with me. I'm not certain why? Maybe the red and yellow-tipped, greenish bill has something to do with it? Or the red ring around the eye? Or maybe it was the way the birds graced us with their presence as they ghosted around the ship, giving us a display of flying skills of exquisite manouvres? Whatever the reason, this bird became a firm favourite within minutes of of seeing it. The motor drive on my camera should have been smoking I took so many photos as the birds came closer and closer to the ship. They were feeding on sealife disturbed by our passing, taking advantage of the situation we were giving them. I have a sequence of their feeding behaviour which will be posted later, but for now, just enjou these birds as they were simply wonderful to watch.

Loved the colors of blue in the iceburgs too. Simply stunning.
