Things picked up on the way back, when we spotted these baby spotted eagle owls in a nest in a tree just north of the northern entrance to the 13th borehole loop

Next up was an attempted photograph by yours truly of a crimson breasted boubou, however the planned photo from underneath didn’t quite have the effect I was hoping for.

This Pale Chanting Goshawk was caught having it’s lunch, closer near to camp

The white faced owl was still about that evening

The first day of November was most definitely the quietest day of our trip.
We packed up our camp site at Mata Mata and were on the road headed for Nossob by 6.30am

The roads were horrendous.

It was a case of déjà vous as we saw giraffe in the riverbed

But only one of the owl chicks as we made our way down to Kamqua

Our trip over the Upper Dune road was quiet, as was the road up to Nossob

It was lunch time by the time we got to Nossob.

After a bit of confusion with regards being able to utilise a non electrified campsite or not, we were given permission to set up camp in the middle campsite (no 2) of the un electrified sites.

After lockdown the camp at Nossob has been upgraded quite nicely and there are now 3 designated non electrified campsites .

We set up camp, and were happy bunnies, looking forward to the next part of our holiday

We stayed in camp that evening and just chilled, watching the sun go down.

Whilst waiting for the gates to be opened, we sat in the bird hide at Nossob watching the African bushveld slowly wake up.
It was going to be a stunning day.

We left camp as soon as the gates opened at 5.30 and were just out of the camp when this honey badger ran across the road and onto the riverbed. The light was bad and it was moving pretty quickly, as honey badgers do, so we only managed a proof pic.

In the meantime the moon was setting in the west.
