Birdies all over again, Pumbaa! \O

The unidentified one may be a female wydah, but no idea, we can send it on? --00--

And how rare the bullfrog story!
Love the dung beetles! X#X

Most of the birds indeed looked drenched after heavy rainshowers ;-)

As it now was dry we again took a walk along the Rhino trail and soon noticed hadedahs and at the dam already the hippo at its usual spot,

Image

we saw hidden water dikkops and enjoyed again the dam view, however, compared to farer North in the South it obviously did not rain that hard as compared to yesterday the dam looked not much fuller.

Image

We again sat a while on one of the benches in the shade and detected a bit hidden green backed herons

Image

Image

after a while we started to return to our bungalow, however, captured a black headed oriole,

Image

Image

met a bushbuck on the trail,

Image

found a glossy starling

Image

and also the crested barbet was not far.

Also a couple of wood hoopoes arrived and luckily posed a couple of times for shots,

Image

Image

this vervet monkey was obviously disturbed by our presence and must have been the one who tried to steel our potato yesterday evening.

Image

A bit hidden but not that shy we noticed a brown hooded kingfisher

Image

Image

discovered again grey louries and noisy parrots

Image

and returned back to our bungalow just in time as it suddenly started to rain again torrentially which took nearly an hour and so soon small rivers were flowing through camp and the rain flowed like waterfalls from our thatched roof.

As soon as the rain set in same stopped again, however, it still dripped from the trees but we were in the mood for an afternoon drive and so we left camp around 15.30 o’clock but the first stretch on the S110 was completely quiet and only on the H3 we stopped for a couple of warthogs

Image

and to our surprise this blond maned one even caused a traffic jam

Image

nevertheless same posed extreme nicely but a warthog is causing a traffic jam? Never saw that ever before maybe it was because it was such a rainy day and also the other people in their cars were hungry to see something.

Image

It cleared now up soon more and more and even the sun came out but the grass was still extreme wet after that rainy day but we were happy to finally could photograph a couple of helmeted guineafowl chicks cuddled together on a small sand hill as normally these birds are only seen in the early morning and soon disappear for the rest of the day in the high grass.

Image

to be continued..................

Perfect shots of so many different birds O/\ O/\

Traffic jam for a warthog  Must have been because of the colour of the mane or for the tusks or for the lack of something better lol
