After our short break we surely drove straight to Sunset dam where a lot of water and other birds were around such as this wattled plover,

Image

As well as this small crocodile who was lying completely in the way and same was permanently being bothered by cars who nearly run over same as they parked so closed. Will never understand that as from far you even can see more from the animal and so can others as well and secondly same will most likely disappear earlier when always being surrounded by cars.

Image

The weavers were busy in refurbishing their nests in the prominent tree there

Image

and now we even got a closer look onto the smaller sunbathing crocodile, however, only with the big lens

Image

and after a look through the binoculars we spotted uncountable numbers of crocodiles on the entire shore of the dam.

Image

Meanwhile it was again extreme hot although it was the whole day nearly overcast but as we will be staying the next two days anyway at Lower Sabie we did not stay long and drove slowly back to Biyamiti and along our way we stopped for a beautifully posing Mrs. Zorro.

Image

We took the S82 as we simply prefer gravel roads instead of tar roads and on top the H4-2 never brought us that luck. We drove not very far when we were soon surrounded by a herd of buffaloes and so we parked and enjoyed their presence first still from far

Image

Image

but after a while they got used to our car and even came closer eying us suspiciously as only buffaloes can do.

Image

Some were visited by the obligatory oxpeckers

Image

whilst other were only staring at us.

Meanwhile the whole herd had crossed the road and started to disappear and so we continued and nearly at the end of that road we were stuck again in another buffalo herd out of which this female had a nice scratch on a rubbing post which she obviously enjoyed tremendously

Image

also within that buffalo herd we simply enjoyed in being allowed to watch them

Image

Image

and whilst the buffaloes more disappeared into the bush we now also had eyes for a three banded plover we discovered in a mud whole where normally a small stream is flowing also here only mud was left.

Image

The rest of our drive along the H5/S108 was quiet besides a burchell’s coucal who luckly was in the mood to pose a bit longer for us

Image

And at our beloved Bume causeway we met again the three buffaloes we already saw the two previous days there or in the vicinity of same.

Image

Two of them obvously had a dispute

Image

whilst one of them kept away from the battling couple and walked away from same. We met him again later on the road.

Image

On our drive back we again spotted baboons on rocks, white fronted bee eaters, a yellow billed stork, waterbucks and wooly necked storks in the Biyamiti riverbed but nearly the whole sightings were a bitt too far away for worth shots but a couple of giraffes were close enough.

Image

We finally returned back to camp around 15.00 o’clock and as we had that day already such incredible sightings and tomorrow would be moving day again and it was still far too hot we decided to stay in camp for the rest of the day. After we cooled down a bit we again took a walk along the fence and today a couple of elephants were around although in a hurry

Image

but as there were so many of them we always found a willing model to pose for us.

Image

Image

We had an early braai and simply enjoyed our dinner on our verandah with the obligatory cold ones before it was time for the bed.

to be continued........

The cars parking close to and surrounding the small croc is irritating, but common sense is missing with many in the south. O/

The buff is definitely enjoying a nice scratch. =O:

I know that it makes no sense but the wattled plover is a white-crowned lapwing ;-) Obviously, the name was already taken even if the wattled lapwing's wattles are much smaller lol

Great buffalo pics \O

I hope that the croc in the road lived to see another day.

A buffalo episode, Pumbaa! \O

Interesting the croc lying there, we are so lucky animals ignore cars, which make Kruger possible!

Ja, Bume causeway is a magic spot! X#X

We had indeed such a laugh about mrs. Buffalo's scratch \O Definitely some are missing the common sense once we saw a couple who nearly overrun the lions so close they neared them - The consequence was the lions ran right into the bush 0*\

You can find everything there - Simply love the spot - We normally drive until that spot on our afternoon drive whenever staying in Biyamiti ;-)
