And great Wile.e coyote! lol

Those sociable weaver nests end up being a haven for all sorts of inmates, if memory serves, and the weavers have to fix breakages for non-paying residents! Ironic! lol
This one is Wiley Coyote, Wile E Coyote's distant cousin ^0^ It was still pretty inept at catching birds.

The Sociable weavers get something out of it too, the Owl will defend the nest against predators.

Sunday 20 September. Nossob.

So it was raining when the alarm went off, just a light drizzle, just enough to dampen things down.

So I turned the alarm off, turned over and went back to sleep.

So it was still cloudy when I emerged a couple of hours later and on my way back from cleaning my teeth I spotted two Yellow Mongooses fighting or playing or something.

They were playing! Foreplaying!

They continued to fight and/or play afterwards too.

It gradually brightened up and I spent some time in the hide.

The sky had cleared by the afternoon and I had some early luck on my afternoon drive. The two local pride males were at Rooikop waterhole.

I was looking for the small stuff and I spied a Dragonfly.

Yet another Swallowtailed Bee-eater.

Further down Marie se Draai, a Brownie! My only one for the trip!

It was walking the wrong way and I reversed to keep level with it so I could get some pictures. It didn't like being followed took off at high speed.

Then I had some more luck with the little things - another Bushveld Elephant Shrew!

And a not so little Kori Bustard.

So I got back to Marie se Gat and the light was sublime. The following two pictures are as they came out of the camera - beautiful golden light as it only occurs in the desert; something to do with the dust in the air I'm told.

At Rooikop, the two behemoths had woken up a bit. These are two of the biggest lions I have ever seen. One of them was responsible for killing at least one of its offspring a week earlier.

Later that night, outside the kitchen; a Bibron's Gecko.
