Great sighting and pics of the jackal and awesome to see cheetah!

I think, seeing a jackals for such a period of time in KNP is something special And having it feeding and not running in circles (like in: not getting a decent picture) is even better. Particularly in that light.

And cheetahs!!!

It was totally dry there and it looked so very strange compared to other years

It was wonderful to spott the cheetahs again although the sighting was short

We had so far a couple of nice jackal sighting in KNP but for sure that was one of the best ones

Although nature was meanwhile calling we dared a short visit on the Lower Sabie causeway which finally ended in a longer visit there as simply so much was around which simply had to be captured. We saw a lot of white egrets and got lovely close ups of our beloved open-billed storks





which gratefully could be seen throughout the whole park this year again in masses and from where we stood we counted already 10 of them spread all over the small sandy islands close to the causeway. The pied kingfishers were busy nearly everywhere in fishing, we saw lot of African jacanas and the ever present Egyptian goose.



Maybe the ban was broken as also a squacco heron landed not far away from where we stood and allowed a couple of lovely shots.





Once again we lost time as we simply had that much to admire and photograph – A bushbuck a bit farer away dared to show up between the reeds along the shore and same was obviously his favourite place to stay as the following days we always saw him standing there.



Although we could have stayed far longer we headed forward and only after an extreme short break at Lower Sabie we were out again only to stop at the close by Sunset dam where we saw lot of spoonbills together with masses of crocodiles.



Another malachite kingfisher landed on a bush close by and so Timon could not be dragged away in photographing same

and same was quite a successful fisherman.







Far away the impalas were drinking, crocodiles were sunbathing and the hippos were grunting – It was simply magnificent to be back again. The black-winged stilts were foraging along the shore and whilst they came closer Timon brought the buttons to glow again.



and also a lot of open-billed storks could also be seen here.



We decided to try the S29 as normally along same the grass is always that high that nothing can be seen but today it was similar everything was dry



and still nothing to be seen besides a large group of zebras who braved the elements



and obviously still found something to eat under the sand and stones



at least they seemed to be in a good mood and we stopped there far longer as expected





and where zebras could be seen wildebeests are normally also not far away.
