Great cheetah sighting ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ I have done the same while visiting the sighting board and then chased the family into the car ;-)

I wonder if it’s the same ones we found on the H6, but we had what I think is the “mother” with them initially -O-

I was wondering the same thing myself - how many were there at your sighting? 4 plus a mother? or 4 in total? None of these ones were limping, but that can change of course

I think it's the same crowd, but we had 5 in total. The one that ran off first I assume was the "mother"

I have been monitoring their movements for awhile and they tend to travel in a loop from just north of Satara on the H1-4 towards S100 area, then they have been seen on the H1-3 between the H6 & S100, sometimes the start of the H7, then on the H6, then S41 area (heading north), then they pop up again on the H1-4, just north of Satara.

We had a few funny looks from other people at the sighting O** O**
But it was well worth it \O

We were very happy nan - especially that they moved around a bit when we first got to them X#X

We had a few sightings in or just out the camp... so yes, a very good spot to be based when sightings are behaving themselves --00--

We have tried it before on hearing of a few things but it never worked until now :-0 :-0

April 3rd Continued

After the excitement of the cheetah we ensured we weren't late for our sunset drive, but couldn't help wondering what we might be missing out on while waiting inside the camp for our drive. :-?

Once everyone had piled in the game drive vehicle, we told the driver that we had seen the cheetah just to the north of camp so he took a trip that way first just to check if they were still around. Fortunately they were! And again our timing worked out as they were just getting up and starting to move with a bit of purpose O:V

We couldn't see any obvious prey around which was a shame, as they seemed to be on the lookout as well ^Q^

For a brief moment they were all relatively close to each other so I could sneak a shot of them together X#X

Then some more scanning

Image

Until eventually they picked up something in the distance which captured their attention and off they went

Image

It had been a good start to the drive. The lion couple were also still nearby so we aimed to try pick them up again later and in the meantime take a drive along the S100. On the way to the S100 we came across the owner of this dead tree O:V

Very good, Peej! X#X

Was it chilly in the evenings at least? -O-

How do you know the cheetah are males? -O-

Did the car seats get wet while in swimming gear? -O-

I like the leguan, good pic in nice light. X#X
