^Q^ the dragonfly. The Dropwings often perch in the bright sunshine with their abdomens upward and their wings far forward, this one does it strikingly so.

The Lions are still very active in the area. In fact, all of us that live along the river are a bit upset with these big cats. They took down that huge Waterbuck bull that had the strange horns. They measured out at 42 inches, which is 4 inches longer than an award for a trophy hunter. :shock:

I got a huge lone male Lion on my way to work on Friday, but no camera with me, and I missed seeing them by minutes, a few times this weekend. O/

I had quite a pleasant drive this morning, starting off with a Jackal...

I really enjoyed capturing this Burchell's Coucal. It kept trying to hide after it caught a snack, but I stayed put and waited until it appeared from the foliage...

Another special sighting for this area, Yellow-billed Oxpecker. I think it's the first time I have seen them on Grietjie...
