The next morning we woke up to a very overcast day. A storm was building up quickly and we could here the thunder rumbling

Image

Was really hoping it would rain after the hectic warm day yesterday. We packed up to travel north O/\ O/\ O/\ O/\

On our way still some dark clouds all over

Image

But that was the last of that. No rain and then the clouds went back to planet clouds lol

We stopped at Shingwedzi for some nice lunch. And every time we go there i always check out the flood levels and think to myself that must have been crazy for the whole camp to be under water

Image

After lunch we did some shopping and then carried on north O/\

According to the sightings a leopard was seen only 2km down the S56 for two days in a row so we thought lets give it a try. But no leopard for us this time. About 5km before the turn off to Sirheni a car came towards us and asked us to stop. These guys told us about another leopard they saw but it went down into the dry riverbed and they lost visual of it.

We had all our meat and food in the car so we thought lets go to camp and forget about the leopard for now.

Arriving at camp ALF O/\ O\/

Oh sorry Sirheni :-0

Image

Checking in went quick and we were very surprised when the lady told us we don't have to put our meat into the freezer at the gate because every bungalow now has a fridge/freezer ^Q^ ^Q^

We off loaded everything and i parked off outside taking in the peace and quiet of the bush.....at last

Our braai

Image

The ice cold tea went down well

Image

Just very sad that Sanparks won't fix the dam wall that was damaged in the floods of 2013

We made friends with two elephants that decided the green grass in front of our unit tastes better than other grass

Image

Another donated cottage. Wish it was mine O**

Image

Cottage no 2 is a distance away which makes no 1 awesome

Image

Some water left in the river after some rain a week before we arrived

Image

And a dry riverbed to the left

Image

Time to switch to water O** and to enjoy the last minutes of sun shine

Image

The parking area of the over crowded camp with the screaming of kids lol

Image

The road going down to the boma and hide

Image

Next day we relax and Mrs Alf on her first alone drive inside Kruger :O^

Next trip to the bush??

It's actually the best camp by far for me at the moment. I'm not interested in staying at any other camp (for now).

The noise from all the birds around and the sound of the wind blowing through the trees are music to my ears lol lol

Water is good for you O**

It was always a mission to walk up to the gate to go and fetch the meat that you want to braai that evening. Huge improvement now ^Q^ ^Q^

I believe it can only be camp management that would organize something like that. \O

The next day we took it very easy as one seems to be more relaxed in this kind of environment. We had some nice breakfast outside while watching the two elephants moving up and down the river.

We then decided to go and visit the boma and hide

Image

The boma has this amazing view on the river.

Image

Image

We then walked down to the hide

Image

The first time i have seen a guide putting up something like this. Well done to him ^Q^ ^Q^

Image

After that we returned to our cottage and i told Mrs. Alf that i'm going to take an afternoon nap :-)

She then decided that she will go on her first ever solo drive in the park........... in search of leopard O**

It was about an hour later that she came back and woke me up and said come quickly i have found a leopard O/\ O\/

At first i thought she was joking. But arriving at the destination the leopard was still in the same place where she has found him

Image

Image

The little aliens were very excited in the back of the car but this leopard had other plans for them lol

He kept his eyes only on them and would lick his lips every few minutes as if he thought they would taste delicious =O: =O:

They quickly closed the window and Mrs. Alf told the leopard they are not his lunch. 0=

He wasn't impressed with her and got up and climbed up higher into the tree and took a nap.

We then decided to leave him alone and to visit Babalala picnic spot

Image

This was now after 4pm and a few taxis still popped in to have a late lunch.

On our way back to camp we went past the leopard again and he was still <zz>

It was again time for another braai in the best place on earth

Image

Next day we pack up and move south again :-(
