Hi BluTuna, good to see you again.
Agree with you about tusker yes/no. Looking at one myself it it's easier then "judging" based on a photo, because distance and angle are important to get an idea about size , thickness etc...
first one , I don't think it's a tusker , tusks are not that thick and long (combination)
second , idd it's Nkombo
third one (could be Madzopfurini but no 100% (based on left ear en inward shaped right tusk)
nr 4 ... interesting because of estimated age and thickness of the tusks... I don't "known" this one
If you find some spare minutes please send the pics you have to me , nr 4 will be added to the potential tuskers section
tuskers@zeelandnet.nl
[quote="BluTuna"]I've been meaning to post these pictures for a while. All taken during our last |Kruger visit in April.

BluTuna ...thanks for sending the pics...
About:
Recent sightings of Kaleka and Ngodzi and about "judging" tusks based on photos
OK... first most recent sighting with
NGODZI (July 10th)
-

-
Looking at this picture the impression is that both tusks are almost equal in length
Next picture from a different angle shows that his right tusk is longer
-

-
confirmed by another picture and angle (frontal)
-

-
Now
KALEKA most recent sighting July 9th
-

-
Looking at this picture the impression is that his right tusk is much longer then the left one
Kaleka again.... different angle
-

-
Based on this picture / angle his right tusk is just a bit longer
What I said before in other posts... it's not easy to judge size / shape of tusks based on one photo

That last picture of Kaleka is made in december 2015... I have pictures of him made recently in July where he looks very healthy.
Another fact about Tuskers (bulls) , if they are in musth they " forget" to eat , just busy with finding a girlfriend and sometimes they get in a fight with another bull with the same idea about a girlfriend ... even worse if it is the same girl they are after....
I saw a wildlife programm on TV about two bulls fighting for about 48 hours... end of story ...one walked away with some injuries, the other was in victory and did where he came for....

Hi All,
At the moment I am busy to install my new PC with all expected and unexpected challenges.
This means that there will be some delay with replying email, tusker id-ing and updating the tusker site
