My binocs can't take pics, Flutts! I think there are branches in the way anyway! =O:

Oom Eddie was a cool guy! No respect for authority, though, so It's amazing we got on so well! -O

We didn't take pics of bert and his so or anything that night, just had a great time!

Upon arrival, we booked into our 2 EH-1 huts, which are very nifty as we know, and drove for miles to get to bert's chalet, which ended up being just across the lawn from our accommodation.... 0- but that would become extremely handy later, understandably! ;-)

After hearty exchanges of abuse between me and bert, as part of our extended internet ritual, I suppose, we settled down, so to speak. Not really, as I was in normal slightly-intoxicated camp-commandant mode...never a pretty sight, and went stumbling around camp looking for an extra braaier, which would be necessary for the, you guessed it, chicken! O\/ (And garlic bread and salads!)

I think Oom Eddie, as volunteer/natural choice cook ordered me to do so, now that I think about it!

I nailed a braaier from a nearby unit, which seemed empty. However, there was the occupant of the unit sitting in the dark having a dop...so I was caught out a bit...

Occupant: "Excuse me...what are you doing?"

RP: "Eek!....Shorry! ... We are cooking an extra braaier, sho need another shicken!"

Occupant: "I see...don't worry, I am leading a tour group, and will be eating with them, so go for it!"

RP: "Thanksh! Drink ush for a join later!"

And he did...if memory sherves! :o0ps:

Glad to see you use common sense and not contaminate the meat braai with chicken. -O =O: =O:

The evening was getting to be real fun, not unexpectedly! Bert is a very level-headed fellow. I was curious as to if all Dutch people were the same regarding protocol, after my experience with aat the previous summer...

Bert and SO did not smell their food before dishing up, which was a good start! =O:

Oom Eddie did brilliant work with the chickens, two of them, and we ate like there was no tomorrow! Delicious!

We climbed into various whiskeys, plus bert's idea of smoking, which involves a laborious process of rolling tobacco etc...

"Laborious" suits me not, never mind having your lungs blasted by unfiltered tobacco...but anyway.... :O^

We obviously and endlessly gossipped about SP and our two "Forums", one just emerging at that stage, and found a lot of common ground!

In fact almost every forum member anywhere ever was discussed! =O:

There was no holding back regarding "nightcaps"...Oom Eddie and bert's SO went to bed a bit earlier...AND I cleverly moved my car, the "Golden Goose", back around the 2km trail to our accommodation, and walked the 40 metres back to the scene of the fire! ^Q^

To cut a long story short, bert got a gift of a kilogram of wors and 2 dozen fresh rolls from me, as he is a big fan of boereworsrolls, and I got a pack of prime Dutch tobacco (Extremely expensive and valuable!)...

And we sorted out the World's problems, never mind SA's! :-)

So we politely declined journeying vast distances in the early hours of the morning, as proposed by bert, and slept late a bit... \O

(Actually I declined on our behalf, but Oom Eddie didn't moan, as he slept like a baby! ;-) )

Those 1 bed huts are like cocoons...scary stuff, but well worth it! \O

The two of us stopped at Sunset Dam on the way out...and I noticed the blue-green algae there, allegedly!

Then on to the Nwatimhiri road on the way to Numbi, I think, or Malelane...and home! (The nice thing is, well not really nice, is that there are no witnesses to remind me/contradict me here! ;-) )

And this fellow with a big smile on his face!
