Brownies are one of my favourites, such handsome creatures! Not a bad day considering I didn't go for a morning drive.

Thanks Toko, I managed to get an even better Elephant Shrew picture later in the trip!

Monday 21 September. Nossob.

Another cloudy start to the day.
Image

We headed south, the Lions at Rooikop had moved on.

At Marie se Gat, a pair of Lappetfaced Vultures.
Image

And another Bushvelt Elephant Shrew - I'm getting lucky with these!
Image

It gradually brightened up and the sun came out.

Martial Eagle.
Image

Another small creature - Brants' Whistling Rat!
Image

On the way back to Nossob, at Rooikop we found that the rest of the Nossob Pride had had moved in, 11 in total.
Image

This subadult male was itchy.
Image

Then he spotted the culprit - a fly.
Image

And tried to catch it.

Back at Nossob, a Squirrel was burying a nut.
Image

At the hide, a Scalyfeathered Weaver, a Redheaded Finch and some Springboks.

The afternoon drive was a bust, not much to see except some scenery and some hunkered down BBJs at CQ.

I was about 15kms north of Nossob when the dust storm hit.

As soon as it passed I turned around and headed back to camp, luckily the wind hadn't caused any damage to the tent.

Everything was covered in a layer of fine sand, even inside the buttoned-up tent. The wind died down as the evening went on and we even managed a braai.

Great bird pics, especially the martial eagle ^Q^ ^Q^

The lion sequence is very entertaining O/\ O/\

and of course I love the squirrel O\/ O\/

The fine sand enters even if it seems that there is nowhere to enter 0*\
