It is very rare that the S28 does not deliver. I too love the black-shouldered kite ^Q^ ^Q^

Flat lions.......even the one standing up looks "flat" lol

The heron in the tree is very nice. Another favourite hide of mine \O

Totally right there is always something to be seen on the S28 but it also can be quiet - Indeed the standing lion does look still flat O:V

A bit later one of them even stood up to only join another one and

Image

only to fall over again.

Image

Now it was also time for us to leave as it was already late

Image

and so we made it slowly back to camp and after such an eventful day we had another awesome braai to close the day with and simply enjoyed the evening on our verandah.

Monday, 12. February 2018 – Crocodile Bridge

Explored roads: H4-2 – S28 – S 107 - S137 – H4-2 – S29 – S122 – S129 – S128 – H4-2 – S28 – H4-2

As this area is one of our favourites in the parks we nearly jumped out of the bed after the alarm clock had been turned off and we were out of the gate as one of the first cars and soon had the honour in meeting two extreme muddy rhinos

Image

which is always a more than stunning sighting and not far from the rhinos we had to stop again as we spotted a lion cub relatively close to the road.

Image

After we positioned the car we took a more careful look around and noticed even more lions

Image

we spotted four larger cubs and three females and the adult females had already drew themselves away under or near a couple of larger bushes a bit farer away

Image

but still close enough, however, the lion cubs felt not disturbed by the traffic which soon had built up and due to the close gate a lot of safari vehicles from outside the park stopped as well at that sighting

Image

but gladly the lions were from each point brilliantly visible so every car found its place and overall the traffic kept within a limit and so gladly for us after the third car arrived the lion cubs still stayed at that spot

Image

and so everybody got excellent shots.

Mom was guarding her gang of little rascals from her resting point but the cubs were still too cute and always looked interested up when new cars arrived and so offered some nice photographic opportunities.

Image

Three of the four stayed for a while close together whilst the other one stayed for her/himself closer to the road

Image

all of them always looked extreme alert

Image

and the one close to the road already looked like the future boss or chiefess.

Image

Meanwhile the sun started to rise as well and wrapped everything into the best light

Image

and it was such a beautiful morning and a more than wonderful sighting. One of the cubs decided to pay one of the adult females a visit

Image

and left its siblings

Image

but gladly the others still stayed and looked suspiciously or curiously into all the lenses

Image

to be continued.....
