How fascinating, Ex! Thanks for the bee info...as far as I recall the carpenter bee stings like a mule!

Those foxes are probably the most photogenic babies on earth! :-0 :-0 :-0 ;-)

The martial shot takes the cake! [O]

After a couple nights at TweeR we returned to Urikaruus for 2 nights. Our first morning drive produced another sighting of Corinne and cubs across the river bed from the Urikaruus overlook. We were the only car at first, and noticed movement high on the dune, but blocked by the bushes/trees. We could see the cubs chasing one another, or so we thought…

Suddenly, the cubs burst out into the open riverbed, in hot pursuit of a springbok lamb.

We were interested to see if they had progressed in their hunting lessons since the last time we saw them with a lamb, when Mom had to intervene and kill the prey for them. We so hoped they had learned by now to quickly kill their catch, both for the cubs' sake, and also the poor lamb's.

Corinne let them do all the chasing and catching by themselves.

Image

They were able to take the lamb down, but seemed somewhat confused as to what to do next.

Image

Naturally, the lamb broke free and the chase was on again.

Of course they caught it, but their confusion on the next step was again apparent.

Yet again the lamb tried to run.

:-( :-( :-(

I think now's a good place to switch to some tongue-in-cheek, lighter fare…

Lastly, c'mon, be honest, don't you wish you had sent at least ONE of these "cards" to someone in your life….
