Tuskers of Kruger Discussions & Identification

Post by aat »

AMAZING !!

In 2009 and 2011 Richard Brett and I photographed a tusker... I added him to the tusker site with the name HLAMVU (after a small "river" between Mopani and Shingwedzi)

Never seen a picture of him again till... today Richard photographed him two weeks ago again in same area ... only change , he broke the tips of both tusks (probably grass notches causing this)

I just could say wowwwwww... amazing ...after almost 5 years he showed up again. O/\

HLAMVU today:

Great stuff !

Kaleka showing regularly on FB.

Hlamvu seems youngish and tusks not quite in growth spurt - imagine how they can grow !

Alf , you will certainly enjoy . The north of the park is literally teeming with elephants at present , and there are big ones around 0*\ Not necessarily all of them with big tusks , but the size of those guys 0*\ And , it appears that the bulls outnumber the cows and youngsters at least two to one :-)
They congregate wherever there is water , especially in the hot afternoons , in herds 50 - 60 strong .
