Rietvlei got a visit from me yesterday -

first of all to look for the European Bee-eaters... :-0 :-0 :-0
and to pull the plug and let the weeks' happenings drain.. \O

STF, I found the bee-eaters, yet they were a distance.. my poor lens stretched and stretched and only just got these blurrs... but I saw them.... ;-) Summer is officially here... O/\ O/\

Image

I didn't see anything NEW, so I concentrated on 'in flights'. Here are some try-shots..

Cormorant

Pin tailed Wydah

Black Headed Night Heron

a bit blurry, as he caught me off guard.. :-)

An Egret

Yellow billed duck
Image

Some Waterbuck
Image

A this one I do not recognise - it was eating on a worm... -O-

Until next time....

Thursday 8 November 2013 Part 3/3.

Who is a handsome boy then????
Image

A tiny "whats-it"?
Image

A cape wagtail checking us out.
Image

One of the many babies in Rietvlei at the moment.
Image

A pair of waterbuck.
Image

An eland giving us the once over.
Image

Sunset over Rietvlei Dam.
Image

My little mik en druk managed to get this rhino/sunset picture.
Image

Our final pic was the ultimate highlight. A lone aardwolf lying in the grass at 18:45. It was very dark so Joan used an ISO of 3200 thus the grainy effect.

Great outings, Amoli and stf! O:V

I also had a good :-0 at your ant-eating chat episode, Amoli. ^Q^

In contrast to nan, I believe that your last birdie is a female red bishop. -O-

Dewi!!! 0:

stf, for your handsome boy, I'd say long-tailed widowbird and the second one a neddicky.
But no guarantee. O**
