We've never had much luck on the S28.
Yep you guys had it much easier when staying in the camp than facing the gate queues from the outside \O
We've only done the S28 a few times and it's not proving to be too successful overall for us either 0:

Not the best start to a special day; you must have been feeling terrible .....and then the queue 0*\

I have always liked the S28, but to be sincere the only special sighting has been a giraffe birth. Maybe because I like the hide ;-)

Yeah that queue didn't help my mood that morning at all 0*\
The hide is nice along the S28, but takes a while to get all the way up there... O**

Tues 25th June contd

After a few hours in the park I was wondering whether it might have been better for me to stay in bed to recover from the night's illness, but then sightings suddenly started to pick up O\/ O\/

After a dead S130 we were heading back in the direction of Crocodile Bridge for a bathroom break when we came across a pearl spotted owlet - a first for us O/\ O/\ O/\

The kids thought it was very cute and wanted to take it home, but the owl had other ideas lol lol

After a brief stop at Croc Bridge, we went up the H4-2 and near the Vurhami bridge someone asked us if we had seen the lions -O-
We said that we had seen them the other day, but it had been quiet for cats for us so far today. The other people had heard that lion had been seen somewhere near the bridge earlier in the morning. Maybe it was when we were still in the long queue outside the gate :-?

We wished them luck in their search and continued along the road. About ten seconds later we slammed on brakes as this young chap almost ran into us O\/ O\/

Image

He was with a lioness who quickly went round the back of the car and then they continued on in search of something on the other side of the road O:V

We wondered if they were looking for the rest of the pride, but they very quickly disappeared from view. Heading north towards Lower Sabie there wasn't much to report other than a big herd of buffalo in the riverbed with elephant feeding in the background \O

Image

Combined with another very well-spotted rhino sighting which we had at some stage during the day, that meant it was getting close to another Big 5 day which was rather surprising given how quiet everything had been :-? 0-

We pulled in to Lower Sabie and got a prime spot for an early birthday lunch X#X X#X
Leopard are sometimes seen from the deck so I was secretly hoping one might pop out as a birthday treat for Grandpa, but it wasn't to be...
