Whilst scanning the area we discovered more grey herons, yellow billed storks, white egrets, masses of crocodiles as well marabou storks but a bit too far away at least one of them Timon captured in flight
and a couple of hippos decided to leave the water as it was still overcast and definitely not that hot as the previous days.
Back in camp we then enjoyed a nice break from driving and left again for our final afternoon drive in that area around 16.00 o’clock and although it was extreme quiet yesterday we decided to drive again the S29 and back via the S128 as it is a not that long drive and we could avoid the tar roads. Funny was when we stopped at the Lower Sabie causeway we again noticed the fish eagle resting at the same spot as yesterday.
Pied kingfishers were also around one sat on the bridge
whilst another one could be photographed in flight
and also a hamerkop was searching for fish.
We did not stay that long and took a bit more time whilst driving where we stopped for magpie shrikes
giraffes and masses of yellow billed hornbills as well as a korhaan but overall it was unfortunately a bit too quiet
so soon we stood again on the Lower Sabie causeway where our fish eagle friend was still sitting on its favourite spot.
For sure another final visit at Sunset dam had also to be done the anticipation to visit several spots in Kruger is always incredible but when there time is always passing by that quickly and in no way you already had to leave. At least we took today our time and noticed a green shank,
a three banded plover,
a grey heron,
yellow billed storks, African spoonbills
as well as marabous a bit farer away.
to be continued…………….
