And as always a great selection of all things great and small! \O

There is still water at the pan! ..0.. :-0

I love the lizard shot too, and it does look like more pleasant weather! X#X
It was in fact a bit more bearable that day ;-)

Although must say that not many figs were still left and after a while we discovered more green pigeons there

Image

and also two bulbuls landed on a prominent branch.

Image

Image

It was a nice stay and it was great that finally this hide had been rebuilt and we also discovered grey louries, a burchell’s coucal and spectacled weaver, however, all a bit too far away for decent shots and finally also a water monitor decided to leave the water.

Image

After nearly an hour we drove back to Lower Sabie without seeing anything worthwhile, however, before we returned back to camp a stop on the causeway is always obligatory and we had luck in again tracing lots of red bishops

Image

as well as masked weavers collecting nesting material and even Mr. Red bishop already presented his new nest

Image

whereas the weavers where still working on theirs.

Image

Image

Before returning back to camp also a visit at Sunset dam had to be done although must say we noticed more or less the same suspects there we already discovered yesterday – obviously the yellow billed stork was resting in the same position as yesterday

Image

but new was the tiny crocodile who took a sunbath close to the stork

Image

and the classical shot of a grey heron on a movable island.

Image

A juvenile fish eagle was about to cross the dam in flight

Image

and we then finally returned back to the tiny crocodile from whom we took a couple of close ups.

Whilst scanning the area we discovered more grey herons, yellow billed storks, white egrets, masses of crocodiles as well marabou storks but a bit too far away at least one of them Timon captured in flight

Image

and a couple of hippos decided to leave the water as it was still overcast and definitely not that hot as the previous days.

Image

Back in camp we then enjoyed a nice break from driving and left again for our final afternoon drive in that area around 16.00 o’clock and although it was extreme quiet yesterday we decided to drive again the S29 and back via the S128 as it is a not that long drive and we could avoid the tar roads. Funny was when we stopped at the Lower Sabie causeway we again noticed the fish eagle resting at the same spot as yesterday.

Image

Pied kingfishers were also around one sat on the bridge

Image

whilst another one could be photographed in flight

Image

and also a hamerkop was searching for fish.

Image

We did not stay that long and took a bit more time whilst driving where we stopped for magpie shrikes

Image

giraffes and masses of yellow billed hornbills as well as a korhaan but overall it was unfortunately a bit too quiet

Image

so soon we stood again on the Lower Sabie causeway where our fish eagle friend was still sitting on its favourite spot.

Image

For sure another final visit at Sunset dam had also to be done the anticipation to visit several spots in Kruger is always incredible but when there time is always passing by that quickly and in no way you already had to leave. At least we took today our time and noticed a green shank,

Image

a three banded plover,

Image

a grey heron,

Image

yellow billed storks, African spoonbills

Image

as well as marabous a bit farer away.

Image

to be continued…………….
