Sharp leachy The 3rd was the incredibly windy day and we found the big 5, including a lion kill, dogs, cheetah and sable, hence I'm not sure if the wind chases animals for cover however if it was July and a freezing cold wind, then animals may duck for cover and when it's hot and humid, they may come out into the open as the wind will cool them i.e. leopard in tree on a hot windy dayleachy wrote:on page 11 & 12 you describe the windy conditions....Bushcraft wrote:I think you need to read pages 14 &15 leachy. judging from the photo of mazithi it was a windy day filled with sightings ??????????
i am just trying to dispel the myth that

5th Lower Sabie to Biyamiti continued
The drive back up the H4-1 to the golf club produced all the normal gang, but we only stopped for pics of sleeping ellies which had gathered a crowd as most thought it was dead, some junior ellies, a few giraffe hanging around and then a monitor hiding out in the tree stump just before the club.
The golf club has become our new favourite stop spot in Kruger. The chow and drinks are reasonable and the place is well kept and peaceful.
We ordered chow and I conned the Cow for some beer as RP had already set the “golf club tone” so I got away with it and still had picture and sound from the Cow, hence we parked off for nearly 2 hours. If it stays this way it will always form part of our Kruger itinerary in the future.
We only left the club at around 1pm and ducked off down the H1-1 towards Biyamiti, but hit anchors at De Laporte again as the female leopard was moving around and she had killed a large impala ram, but was battling to get it up the koppie to her junior.
We could see her trying to pull the kill up through the bushes fairly close to the road, but it was a mission to find a gap for a pic.
The crowd grew rapidly and soon a very loud gang pulled in almost on top of us and the one individual who could see through our window started to give running commentary to others in the car who didn’t know what was going on, so I started to get excited, hence popped the car in reverse which set the Cow off
“Watch the thorn bush! You are never getting out of here!”
As soon as the Cow says “never” she pushes the wrong buttons, so I have to try harder, therefore after some fancy moves and a new thorn bush rash on the car we were out of the crowd.
I then reversed up to where the junior leopard hangs out because the gang further down the road hadn’t picked up on that yet and after a few minutes the junior made an appearance, but a darn OSV came past at that exact moment and started shouting like a darn Hadada to other OSV’s to come up this side, hence before we could get a decent pic the junior ducked for cover. We decided to rather just continue on as it was turning into a circus.
There wasn’t much action besides the normal crowd thereafter, but we did stop at Biyamiti weir again.
To be continued

i figure if your clan can spot the monitor in the tree stump
then you can spot anything, which is indeed very evident in your TT..
besides your spotting skills i think the vast terrain that you cover also contributes to your plethora of sightings
astounding sightings indeed
the golf club is definitely one of my preferred destinations
spent two very long evenings there last week chatting with the locals.
the future is not what it used to be

Sometimes there is really a circus atmosphere in Kruger
I love the pic of the thick-knee and the one with the buffalos
The golf club sounds nice, must try it one of these days

Re: Browns in Kruger October 2016
Don't these OSV drivers realise that they are ruining the sightings as much for themselves as everyone else!!
Great morning sightings with 3 leopards and lions!!
Never been to the golf club before...sounds like somewhere we should visit.

Thanks leachy Plenty eyes in the car does help. If it was just the Cow and I we would miss many sightings and we do work for them as you stateleachy wrote:

The golf club is great and I can't believe it took us so long to start going there I popped in once years ago to check it out but it was full of OSV operators and their guests, so I never went back, however I think you may know why OSV's no long frequent
