The leopard was quite normal, that is just its "scared" posture?
Anyway, back to camp as said! Leachy had not booked in yet, he seems to follow his own procedure with this...
So he commandeered me and the Silver Suppository to take him to the office. I waited outside in the car with bated breath as the sky was darkening ominously, and he was busy gossiping away interminably with the staff... I shouted at him from the car into the office, which is perhaps a bit common!
We just-just did NOT make it with the braai, my umpteenth Kruger braai failure in a row, but could at least get two sosaties and a portion of worse done in the pouring rain...amazing how the coals stay alive for quite a while!
(Soggy sandwiches...)
Leachy sat inside and hurled instructions, congratulations and insults through the door, depending on his tea level...
We started getting a bit silly after supper, comparing our torches in the dark...his is very big and mine is only small and hand-wound.
He eventually demanded some whiskey and promptly broke the glass on the floor and I cut my thumb badly picking up the glass it is amazing how much one bleeds from glass vs metal?
But there were lots of glasses!
The next morning, customary camp inspection!
This tree fell down long ago.
The marula fruit are a nightmare in February. One cannot believe how many come from a single tree!
The Sable is the emblem of Pretoriuskop, and there is a Trail named after it in camp, with markers:

I think it was an honorary ranger project? But somebody must maybe do a bit of clearing?
And then off home!
leachy went in his own direction again, with great sightings as usual.
I decided to do the Shabeni/Mestel loop on the spur of the moment:
And on the S-3 side a big herd of buffalo. Very pretty with private land in the background:

A couple of buffs ran down to some water for an emergency lie-down, for some reason!
And near the end some colleagues. We are quite rare in the Pretoriuskop area at times.
And a final goodbye!
End of this Segment.

The road of the Shabeni loop was terrible, it even shows in the photo, which BTW is very nice
With all those marula fruits it would be the case to open a distillery
Poor leachy! I wonder if he recognizes himself in your descriptions He does seem to be the commander in Chief though
Not bad those business trips to the bush .............apart from the wet braais of course.
until next time

Yes, leachy is the Alpha male, Lis!
There was plenty rain in the area for weeks, as you know, so roads struggled!

It was messy with the storm braai...those huts are without facilities but therefore dirt cheap, comparatively.
leachy and I had a 5 bedder, I think, so very spacious.
