It was a starring contest with those two lions, but maybe because they had cubs

Catching up again, Pumbaa!
As said, lovely light on those elephants!
Thank you for showing this area in summer...I was there just the other day and it is so different in the dry!
Interesting how the lions stared at you so much!
And a secretary bird always nice!
Simply love that area but the grass can get extreme high

It was funny indeed because we stood on top extreme far away but nevertheless we were happy about that sighting

and as soon a traffic jam build up at that sighting we suppose that all the others also had not often seen a secretary bird that close
same continued to strut slowly around and search for something more yummy to feed
and we stayed there quite a while after we got more than enough pictures
but then we needed an urgent break at Crocodile Bridge as nature was now calling more than urgently.
We bought coffee from the shop and enjoyed same during a break on a bench and needed also a couple of other things as well from the shop and after we finished everything we continued our drive slowly back to Lower Sabie and needed to stop for a nicely posing woodland kingfisher along the tar road.
It was still extreme windy but for sure we no more needed a jacket and obviously made everything right as the S25 and H5 were still closed.
Another nice sighting was a tawny eagle sitting on a tree and you can clearly still see how strong the wind was blowing because the feathers of the eagle were drifting in the wind.
In the vicinity of Gesanftombi a bit in the distance obviously a giraffe congress took place as we saw masses of them and on top zebras were hanging around as well.
Gesanftombi itself was still extreme full but now did not look that dramatic any longer
and now also closer giraffes could be seen
and for sure lots of impalas relaxed close to the dam, enjoying the sun
or simply the life itself.

We always can spend hours with them as they are such beautiful antelopes
and always so peaceful
and for sure we never will get tired in photographing giraffes and zebras as not only a giraffe congress took place but also a zebra and impala congress.
Also from the other side Gesanftombi at least could be identified again although the water was still flowing from the dam.
We came across more European rollers
and an elephant herd
made its way through the thick vegetation.
Today we drove via the S130 back to Duke’s but no more sign any longer from the lions earlier that morning even the remain of the kill was obviously dragged under the bush but at least a couple of impalas, wildebeests as well as wooly-neck storks were now hanging around the waterhole
and we stopped again for one of the many European rollers again with a kill.
to be continued…….

Still catching up with the previous episode... Isn't it a kind of relief when you finally manage to see the animals at a particular spot that others have kept ranting about over the years but you felt as if you were the only one to never get to see them. Then one fine day - bam! - and you even got to enjoy the pride by yourselves. Terrific
Beautiful impalas! They've got such a pretty hide. Especially when it's glowing in the sun
Great shot of the roller with its prey
I'm terribly SA home sick by now... And still don't know if we can go at Easter 22 or not... Am seriously considering taking the quarantine and having my salary curbed for that time... Are you going again in February?

Great birdie and scenery shots, Pumbaa!
I like the eagle in the wind!
And of course Gezantfombi, one of my favourites!

Maybe but we are always fascinated by them especially in that beautiful sunlight
