Yeah, what does that mean??

Once RP had himself sorted out we boarded the OSV, with the boss behind the wheel we left camp. The air was crisp and clear, and the usual sightings were full on. The beautiful morning aroma was shattered shortly. An ex-Buffalo calf was the culprit.



RP the ever inquisitive one couldn't resist a closer inspection. I think he was just too happy to be able to exit the vehicle in the bush at this early hour of the morning. Both are firsts for him, off the vehicle and early morning.



He looks quite strong in this pic, but I must tell you he almost placed his dinner and booze next to the carcass a few times.

A hamster's metabolism rate is exceedingly high. If he is not , one must supplement him immediately!

Ja...the hamsters don't understand why one should sleep!


I think one should say at this point that there are no lions resident there, or elephants. There are Leopard and the occasional cheetah and hyena and Wild Dog! Six elephant are being introduced very soon.

Once the cold blooded metabolic rate hibernator was back on the vehicle we moved on. The next sighting lifted our spirits to another level. It was a cow with a youngish calf and a bull close by.







This was worth watching for a few minutes.

We agreed the bull in the background was a bit small, and a wussy, so probably not the dominant one!

All of the older rhino were de-horned a while ago, but farm management have decided to discontinue the practice as they have noticed a difference in rhino social interaction and the fact that it doesn't really deter poachers.
