Enjoying The Kruger Without Staying In The Park

Lots of catching up here... you had some great sightings. An osprey must be quite a rarity

Nice lions and hyenas but a wealth of birdlife

I wonder whether the irresponsible driver was someone who works in the park. We've been at sightings before when they are the ones to 'push' the animals out the way to continue their journey... and I think they're allowed a higher speed limit as well

I did not realize that the raptor was an osprey until RP told me. Having never seen one makes it more difficult to ID it on the spot

The "skating" Sandpiper is spot on Perfect description

That heron swallowing the fish whole is As many times as I have seen something similar, it still amazes me - scales, bones, etc- what digestive fluids must a heron, etc. stomach contain to process an entire fish Must look that up someday.

Also find interesting all the Swallows in the road - haven't seen that before. Will be curious to find the answer - maybe put it in "Unusual Behavior"?

I already put the swallows there, but nobody seems to know

The herons must also have a very elastic throat

The next day I went out late and did not see much. The best was a Tawny eating a poor little squirrel

And a buffalo somewhere

Next outing wasn’t much more exciting but at least more varied

I never saw much on the sand roads between Phalaborwa and Letaba, S131-32-33 and never met another car, which did not bother me at all
As said before I love the hornbills. I find the grey one very elegant in its choice of colours

A steenbok under a bush very close to the road and not looking very happy. How come that the steenboks attracts the flies much more than other antelopes?

Ellies in the green. This one was a bit far away, but I like his tusks even if not very long

The Bateleur is always welcome, being more colourful than its “collegues”

I don't know if Jumbo waterhole has a cement container. I remember that I went past it.
