Makes sense... I guess when it looks so wide it makes you think that it's a lot bigger than it really is

So was it real or was I just hallucinating after the lack of sleep? -O- 0:

No it was real... there she was resting up in a tree O\/ O\/ O/\ O/\ O\/ O\/

We pulled the car back a bit to get more alongside the tree, and fortunately after waiting a while she decided to pull her head out from behind the tree to give us this magnificent view of her :-0 :-0 :-0

Boy oh boy was I glad that my morning fear of missing out had forced me into going for the days drive O\/ O\/
This is what I would have missed out on otherwise O** O**

After a bit of looking around she decided to shuffle round and have a big yawn ^Q^ ^Q^

Tues 25th June contd

The late afternoon light on her was absolutely stunning - we were really pleased that she had chosen an empty tree on that side of the road \O

We were rewarded with yet more glances in our direction O\/ O\/

Oh wow... that look! :-0

She then did a bit of hopping between branches O:V O:V

We couldn't quite work out the purpose to begin with, but it must have been because she was heading down the tree and her route wasn't quite right. After a couple of failed attempts she realised that the way down was at the back of tree ..0..

She stopped for a moment before dropping to the ground

Image

Once on the ground we couldn't see which direction she was heading but in case she was heading our way we stayed where we were. The car in front of us would surely signal if she popped out there, but after a few minutes there was simply no sign of her, so we assumed that she wandered off into the bush away from the road. Afterwards we figured that this was probably the female leopard with the cub that we saw spots of on our fist day in the park - she and her cub had been seen a few times along the S130, but there was no sign of the cub this time.

It certainly ranks up there as one of our best ever leopard sightings. All told we had spent just under 15 minutes with her, and for the entire time there were no more than two other cars which helped keep it all very relaxed \O \O
