Ja but they were the wrong type of people who went to Kruger ..encouraging their kid to touch the Hyena ...My kids would not have been allowed to do that and as a result their parents (Me and Jane ) dont need phones for emergencies like this which are AVOIDABLEAlf wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 3:21 pm Reading through all these i just can't wonder how people with an emergency will get hold of a doctor.
Thinking back at the incident where a kid was bitten in the face by a hyena at Balule and the parents phoned Phalaborwa and informed the doctor they are on their way.
Imagine they don't have any signal and the doctor goes home. The time it would take him to get back at his office it could cost the kid his life

Agreed, Stefan!
These days you can touch a person's anything, but not their cell data!

The onslaught continues!
Notice if you look at the article, Karen Trendler says sweet f-all about sightings apps nor Kruger, just "selfies". Which is far more relevant and makes more sense.

Just in case one wonders what the response is to OSV's using their radios, here is SANParks' bright retort:
Isaac Phaahla, Kruger National Park's marketing and communications manager, agrees that the apps encourage people to rush around the park in search of animals.
And, he said, a radio channel meant to be reserved for emergency use is being abused by drivers sharing information on the location of animals.

So OSV's keep their radios "for emergencies".
But cellphones are not so important for emergencies?

The pic that has been posted with the tweet is not very relevant

SANParks confirmed in yesterday's Lowvelder that the 3 dead impala lambs were an accident, and not due to speeding.

It can very easily happen, especially if you are alone. Yesterday I found an impala just few meters from the car. I was going slowly but was looking to the left and luckily I saw something out of the corner of my eye and had to brake violently. The impala looked at me with her big pretty eyes like saying "what do you think that you are doing, this is my neck of the wood"
