His Majesty proceeded to settle down under a tree near chalet no 4 and seemed set for the day, so we decided to go for another drive.

We reckoned that we may as well go and see if the lions were still on their kill at Morevet

The Auob River south of Urikaruus was pretty quiet bar these Verreaux’s Eagle Owls trying to nap in the trees on the side of the road.

At the Kamqua waterhole a herd of Blou Wildebeest were gathered. You can see in this picture just how dry the park was.

We turned left onto the Upper dune road and after a bumpy 30 minute ride, we arrived at Morevet to see that the lions had left the kill, which was now being devoured by a whole crowd of black backed jackals.

The lions were settled under the smallest tree in the area. Why they had to choose that tree heaven only knows. -O- -O- -O-

Soon after we had settled down to watch the jackals fighting each other over the spoils, we noticed this lioness returning to the kill. She approached the carcass but probably felt that it was too much effort to try and get rid of the jackals, so she turned around and went back to the others under the tree.
