Fighting tortoises is a very special sight, how do they do this?

The pretty flower is a Lion's eye.

The pretty flower is a Lion's eye.
The one was chasing the other and managed to corner him and was banging against his shell trying to get the front wedge under and then flip him .The other managed to get going again and put a tree between them and they chased each other into the grass .
Thank you for the Flower ID O0

Yes it is good that they have made the OSV area but you can see that it will be very busy there once all of these new bits at Skukuza are fully booked and operating .

While sitting on the veranda working we snapped some pics of visitors in the camp ...

Eventually I had enough of waiting and phoned the manager I was supposed to be meeting . Although there had been progress it was still not safe to go to site yet .Eventually made arrangements to meet him at a restaurant in Hazeyview the following morning we could do this on the way to Orpen .

As that had been concluded we went out to do an afternoon drive . Our first idea was to go to Shithave to see if the Lions were back .As we approached it appeared they were as the entire road was blocked from to to bottom with vehicles . Oh hell no not getting into that scrum .Lets rather go drive around camp on the H2 and s14 and maybe find our own sightings .

Our first sighting was this big guy scratching ...
Image

He eventually moved off and we drove around without much luck at all .Ok well there may just be enough time to get back and see what the Lions were doing .

Driving back through the woodlands we came across a big roadblock ...'
Image

We stopped and waited for them to move off the road .
Image

Eventually they moved off and we headed off to the dam .It was getting very late now .I guess it will be a quick shoot and scoot if they are still there .As we approached on the tar there was no vehicles down the road anymore , oh well guess they moved off .But as we got down to the dam... Doggies
Image

And they had made a kill .
Image

These two were playing catch with the head ...
Image

The older ones were crunching some bones while the pups played .
Image

Image

Image

The vultures were trying to get into the action but the youngsters were not having them come anywhere close
Image

Image

This group had found a bit of something to fight over
Image

A youngster had come to visit us as well . :-)
Image

We have a GPS in the car that we set to travel to camp especially useful when seeing sightings like this .The GPS now said if we left we would make Gate closing at Gate closing time ... There was also another vehicle that had arrived a few minutes earlier .We decided we had to leave immediately so left the Dogs playing and headed back to camp .

As we got to camp the guard had closed one half of the gate and walked back to the other side 6.30 on the dot O/\ O/\
