Staff were allowed to fish recreationally for many decades, no big deal? Caught fish for supper on the Olifants trail, for example?

I don’t have a major issue with fishing in KNP. I have an issue with the fact that it’s being “sold” as a research project, when in fact it’s a money making scheme.

If it was a real research project then invited skilled people would attend who know how to catch and handle fish to limit injures and it certainly wouldn't cost R4000 a day as most would do it for free.

The KTP Cycle Challenge was going to be an Annual Event and was sold as a Fund Raiser - a once in a lifetime opportunity

Whahaha It's Friday so ...

I got some feedback on the fishing day yesterday.

It was apparently very well organised and a huge success. There was a total of 265Kg of fish pulled out, the biggest being an 8,6Kg barbel. I am still trying to find out what research was done, should get more clarity tomorrow.

It sounds like they will definitely host another day like this next year. Maybe we should enter an Africa Wild team???
