Anywhere next to a fence suits me - out all day, so what-ever the days are like in camp don't bother me.
[ I always go camping out of holiday seasons / long weekends - so no pressure on bookings.]

Tsendze is GREAT but Balule and Shing has so much to view through the fence.

Camping outside Kruger - Fisherman's Camp, Naivasha. Three visits there and will always return there.
[ Hippo, Rosy faces, Colobus ]

Done Punda many times and Tsendze and and,
I'm keen for Balule next time round!!! and maybe
Maroela??? Though it gets little hectic down there.

I don't mind kids having fun in the camps but I hate
traffic congestion,...

Maroela is not the best regarding congestion, H., as you basically have to share the few roads with Orpen and Tamboti. But still miles better than the South! \O

Due to certain financial developments and the runaway chalet costs; we are going to have to consider camping in Kruger next year if we are going to afford 2 visits. We normally visit in April, July and October (school holidays, so no option), but I’m going to give April a miss next year

I have camped most of my life and have all the kit, just never done it in Kruger due to the lack of space in the vehicle for all the kit and 5 people.

The kids obviously enjoy the sightings and get very bored north of Olifants due to the lack of general sightings when compared to the south, so I would have to look at this when booking, because bored kids in a car is worse for me than the crowds.

Coming from KZN, I’m a little concerned about the night time temperatures in July and obviously the noise in the camping section, which seems to be luck of the draw as to the crowd at the time.

Any advice from seasoned KNP campers 0:

Feel your pain BC...we have always booked accommodation with bathroom and kitchens, but our next trip will be in the cheaper huts with communal ablutions. Not a problem for me and my dad, but the Brat is already panicking! =O: I would also been keen on camping to bring costs down even further and spend more time in the park, but it's not really an option with my dad.

And I agree about staying south of Olifants. My dad and I really enjoyed Shingwedzi, but the Brat got very bored with ellies and not much else. O**
