Do you happen to know what purpose Vallie Moosa was collared for?

I have yet to see that majestic bull.

No I'm afraid I don't know, but I'll try and find out next time I'm in the park.
In fact, I'll try keep a note of all the general questions and see if I can't find a helpful ranger who can share some insight.

I have yet to see that majestic bull.

He is unfortunately quite hard to find - I've only seen him twice in numerous visits

Little Ones Part 1

This spring has been exceptionally lush in Addo. We had plenty of rain from September to the end of November, and as a result the park has been looking greener than I have ever seen it before.



The animals seem to have taken advantage of the good conditions, with plenty of young additions around. Here are a few that I've been fortunate to come across:

Red Hartebeest
Barely a couple of days old and still finding its feet - this was in the southern section of the park



Pale Chanting Goshawks
This was in the middle of a hunting lesson from mom... unfortunately for the young ones on the higher branches the prey got away.



Elephant
More elephant seem to be born in the spring in Addo, but you'll see babies all year round here. This was taken around the Domkrag Loop.



At Hapoor



This little chap is the smallest I've seen in the park - probably only a week or two old. We were parked near Woodlands with plenty of space for the herd to come in front of us, but for some reason they veered away from the obvious route and came right past my window!

Warthog
They actually look very cute when they're little





Leopard Tortoise
There were a few visits in the spring where particularly small ones seemed to pop out the bush. Here's one next to my car for size perspective!



Buffalo
The herds of buffalo seem to be doing very well in the park at the moment. I'm not certain on numbers, but there appear to be 3 large herds roaming around with between 50 and 150 buffs in each herd. Add to that the lone bulls and there's a decent population in the park. This young buff was in one of the large herds near Marion Baree Waterhole



BBJ
One of the jackal dens was conveniently located right next to the road on the Vukani Loop. At this age their eyesight was very poor, but the slightest noise sent them running for the cover of their den.

Oh my word! I don't even know where to start...

The Rooidam photo is gorgeous, or rather the park around it is. So green and dotted with lovely colours.

Can't believe how small such a piggy can really be. It's miniscule.

And I'll have on of those jackals. Cuuute! And they'll still fit in my flat when they're grown.
Could get a bit dicey with the equally cute ellie babies.
