An interesting fact regarding the Nyala...
The male is a bull, all smaller antelope males are rams.
The female however is an ewe, all bigger antelope females are cows.

We saw this handsome fellow on the Mphongolo Loop near Shingwedzi in October 2011.

Ah what beautiful animals they are
If you cannot make it to Pafuri, another good place to see them is the Kannidood road East of Shingwedzi! :D This magnificent male stood in one of the open patches on that road in September last year!

"Red Bull"
There are Nyala with horns and female colouration. Some claim these are males, others say these are females
Occasionally ewes are found with rudimentary, malformed horns. These ewes are referred to as red bulls as they grow significantly larger than normal ewes. A red bull with a mass of 114 kg and a trophy of 32.5” or 83 cm was once recorded in the Imfolozi Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal.

Thanks, Toko! Presumably the trophy "bull" could clearly be identified as a bull, if you know what I mean!
