Fun and games here at Grietjie this morning. We have just chased an Elephant out that broke through the fence. JLee nearly walked into it when she walked around the house. I'll post pics in the week.

Back from a some what exciting weekend at Grietjie.
On Saturday morning JLee came running to me saying that there is an Elephant in the yard. I grabbed my camera and went to investigate. When I walked around the corner, this is what I was met with...
This chap had trampled the fence down, not phased by the electric fence, and was enjoying a freash green breakfast. He was not bothered by us and just carried on eating the trees and plants in the garden...
We now had to find a way to get him back out again. We didn't need more damage to the fence so we opened the gate and tried to chase him out...
All was going according to plan until he decided to stop again and continue filling his gut...
Once he was done with his snack, we we resorted to a more serious approach. Heavy weapons were now required to get him mobile again. Close range salvos with a catapult got him moving and out the gate...
It was now time to repair the fence before he returned. Later the fence was fixed and we thought it was the end of his visits, little did we know how wrong we were...

Yes Amoli, she caught a skrik, but the fun afterwards made up for it.
It was a day of Elephants, first the intruder then a smallish herd at the waterhole (taken from the stoep)...
They were well behaved...
Once done drinking they headed off...
We thought that that was it for Ellies for the day...

It must be...
Later that evening while I was busy at the braai, I heard noises again. I made my way in the direction of the noise and found him inside again. I was standing on a ledge looking down at him from about 2m away...
This time we used crackers to scare him away. We carried on with the braai and went to bed later. At about 03h00 we woke up to a huge commotion...he was back!!! This time he trashed everything he could get to, 30 plus year old palm trees destroyed. When it got light it looked like a war zone!!!
