Jumping Spider IDs and Comments

Definitely for the pics that show the abdomen = S. guttiger. Same for those w/out dorsal view (first and last of #4 series)? I know so very little about spider ID any little variation can throw me off.

Also, might these 3 ( all same spider) also be S. guttiger, tho’ the abdominal pattern isn’t quite as distinct, it does have 3 white spots. (Looks like your more recent post on S.guttiger would answer the question as "Yes".

As far as #3, I don't think it's the same as #4. I also think I have another spider series that may be the same as # 3, and perhaps somewhat better pics. Will reexamine and edit the #3 post to include more angles if so.

re no 4:

specimens have dark brown, almost black dorsum with only one caudal white spot

for no 3 I have no clue so far - but I think we are doing very well with IDing at least some

Re additional S. guttiger:

The second one looks matching, but I am not sure about the others, the abdomen stripe one the last one looks nothing like all the photos I have seen, and the first one has the eyes encircled in white

If I knew if this genus is the only one with the two stripes, it would be easier
So far there are only 3 species recorded for SA, but as we know, this might change. This genus is very widespread and has lots of members.

You had thought this one is not S. guttiger due to white around the eyes.

However, the one I posted on pg. 4 (middle pic) also has white around the eyes

You are right!

I don't know, but I think the red around the eyes is an essential feature

It looks like it MAY also have the white "knees" if you look close at pics 2 and 3, there is a white line at the joint near the right eye.
